Retired Nomads - Part 2 : People

When we travel one of the most rewarding and interesting things is seeing, watching and interacting with people. Many of the shots aren't good photos as they have been shot through the window of the tour vehicle as we drive past. Some were at a great distance of a scenery shot and cropped. Whenever, I point a camera at someone in close quarters I always ask or point to my camera, and some say no, and I respect that. Others give a thumbs up or just smile. Some recognize we are tourists and ask to have their picture taken or pose not expecting anything in return. Some are those that pose for a dollar and others are performers. In some countries the people don't dress much differently than we do, and you only see their native dress in performances or open-air museums, while others have some that still wear it every day. It's also quite interesting to watch people just going about their daily lives when the setting is so different than ours. I'm sure those that visit here in the States have the same feeling. I remember a great conversation with our driver in India and he was very curious about life in the States. He commented at one point "you mean even your poor people have air conditioning?" We don't visit other countries to judge, but to appreciate our differences.
