Plattsburgh, New York to Burlington, Vermont - August 13
We had a very short drive today, so we relaxed until just before noon when we headed out for lunch at a French place called Quiche et Crepe. The navigator took us to where the restaurant used to be located. We almost went somewhere else, but Google Maps had the updated location, so we drove there. We are sure glad we went as the food was divine. The owner is from France but has been in the States most of his life and he loves to talk to his patrons. He chatted with us at length as we ate. His son is currently living in Florida (on the opposite coast from where we are) and he said he thought about moving down to Florida as well but selling everything and opening a restaurant in a different state would be a big move.
We had planned to split a dessert crepe, but he brought over a dessert tray just filled with beautiful creations. So, we got one of the chocolate ones and we also got a Chocolate Mousse Crepe to split with each other. Both were to die for. Greg said his crepe was lighter than air and my quiche was lovely as well. We vote for him to move to the Port St Lucie area!
Our drive today was only something like 26 miles, but it took around two hours since we drove north almost to Canada before turning and taking the bridge across Lake Champlain and then driving over several bridges between the islands before arriving on mainland Vermont.

Lake Champlain stretches more than 100 miles south from the Canadian border and forms the northern part of the boundary between New York and Vermont. The elongated archipelago is comprised of Isle La Motte, North Hero, Grand Isle, and South Hero and the Alburg Peninsula which was a very scenic drive.
We actually are staying in Williston in another Fairfield. We got settled in and then shopped for groceries and then came back and got caught up with laundry and had dinner.
Tomorrow, we are visiting Stowe & Mt. Mansfield.
