Quechee Gorge, VT to Plymouth, NH - August 18

Burlington, VT to Plymouth, NH - August 18

We had a short travel day today, so we hung out at the hotel until checkout at noon. That seemed to piss off the maids since they kept remarking each time Greg took down things to the car. She said “is that your last trip”? Greg said “no” and they replied, “We’ll give you a few more minutes”. Greg said we would be at least another half an hour.

We had lunch at Panera and then drove to see Quechee Gorge on our way to New Hampshire. It is Vermont’s deepest gorge, formed by glacial activity approximately 13,000 years ago. The Ottauquechee River flows 165 feet below the viewing points of the bridge. There are lots of hiking trails there, but we just stopped for the view.

We ordered ice cream and holy cow were the servings HUGE. There had to be at least 4 large scoops piled high. Somehow, we managed to get it all down. (what didn’t melt over the sides)

We continued on to Plymouth, New Hampshire and got checked into the what should be the last Fairfield of this trip. They upgraded us to a suite so it’s much more comfortable than the last room we were in.

Mount Cardigan - Orange, New Hampshire

Tomorrow, we are doing the scenic drive on the Kancamagus Highway.
