Puerto Egas, Isla San Salvador & Dragon Hill, Isla Santa Cruz - Galapagos 2011

Puerto Egas, Isla San Salvador

In the morning w had a wet landing at James Bay for an easy beach walk for about 1.5 miles. Here we saw the Galapagos Fur Seals (really sea lions, but were misnamed and no one ever changed the name) They played in the collapsed lava tunnels that created pools of water. After the walk we went snorkeling from the beach. There were lots of beautiful fish and some huge Galapagos White Tipped Reef Sharks. We knew that the time of year we went was not the prime snorkeling time, but it was the season where the water was the warmest. The water is cold here due to the Humboldt Current. It still wasn't all that bad, though visibility could have been better in most of the sites.

Our afternoon excursion was a dry landing for a 1.5 mile hike seeing Land Iguanas, Darwin Finches, etc. After the hike we went snorkeling from the beach. Not great visibility there.
