Historic Wickford Village North Kingstown, RI - September 2

Historic Wickford Village North Kingstown, RI - September 2

We planned a leisurely day today. It was a short drive to Wickford. It was supposed to rain today, but it skirted all around us, so we had a beautiful day.

We walked along the waterfront and then strolled several of the streets in the quaint town. I popped into several of the “artsy” shops to just poke around. Despite the holiday, it was rather uncrowded and it was peaceful just wandering around the town.

There were many old homes in this quaint 1700’s New England town. Many were occupied as residences while others were Inns and restaurants or shops.

It was lunch time and we stopped at Tavern by the Sea and we had Maine-style Lobster Rolls. They were quite good despite the fact, that we weren’t in Maine. Lol (lots of claws, crunchy celery and virtually no mayo)

After lunch we also took a short walk in Bush Hall Nature Reserve and found several clusters of birds. Our walk was cut short since one path was flooded and another the bridge was gone. While checking out the bridge I found a small “purse”. We thought we should take it and turn it in somewhere. We opened it to see if there was and ID in it, but instead we found someone’s “stash” instead. Yikes! We zipped it up and left it there.

One of the shops I went into had some yummy looking chocolates, so we went back there and bought some for our afternoon treat. Wow, they were as tasty as they were a work of art.

We drove back to the hotel and relaxed the rest of the afternoon.
