Sea Day – Jan 30
Another hot and lovely day. Spent an hour in the sun before
coming back to get ready for lunch. The dining room didn't look exciting, so we
went up to the Lido buffet. Nothing special up there either so I went up to the
Grill and got Chicken Street Tacos. (not traditional as they were served in
crunchy shells, but very tasty. Actually, had flavor and some heat. Desserts
continue to disappoint.
With the first tender port coming up the day after tomorrow
I stopped by the Captain's Circle desk to see if she knew where the Elites
would meet if going ashore independently. She didn't, but said it oftentimes is
in the Explorer's Lounge.
An announcement came into the staterooms about a helicopter evacuation that would take place around 3:30. They blocked off several areas of the ship as they would use the area over the pool to perform the evacuation. That time came and went and the evacuation happened during our dinner. We don't know what the emergency was, but it must have been dire since we were arriving in Tahiti the next morning. Rumor has it that it was one of a family of 3 that was on the Cruise Critic Roll Call. We sure hope we receive good news that all is well with the sick person and the family.
Another passenger posted these photos on FB. He got some great shots! Greg got some shots of the area being prepared for the evacuation.
