Sea Day – Feb 12
Lunch was pizza at Alfredo’s, and we sat with an interesting young lady
doing the world cruise.
Back in the dining room for dinner. 2 couples joined the
table. Both were quite interesting to talk to.
The entertainment was Will Martin a vocalist also plays piano. WOW! We have seen him before, but what an awesome performer. He has a beautiful voice and does everything from classical to rock.
After that we went to the Majority Rules game. Always a fun time with some of the crazy answers that people give just to be outrageous.
Now 3 more days at sea before Melbourne.
Sea Day – Feb 13
Well, today the Super Bowl was on out on MUTS by the pool
and in the Explorer’s Lounge. It was also on in the staterooms. Not into it but
had it on while we did some laundry. We do get free laundry, but things that
are too delicate to send out we normally do by hand. As Elites we also get free
laundry tokens for washing/drying/soap. So, we did 3 loads and hung much of it
around the cabin to dry if it couldn’t go in the dryer. We learned that the
ceiling is magnetic (we already knew most of the walls are) so we put our hooks
all over and hung clothes to dry.
We went to the buffet for lunch and the dining room for
dinner. Only a single lady was seated at our table for dinner.
The entertainment was a fun and high energy guy Patrick
McMahon. An Australian that did folk and country type music and played guitar.
He was hilarious. When explaining all the words to Waltzing Matilda I
accidently snorted really loud I was laughing so hard.
The game tonight was a “Pajama Party” which really was just
movie trivia. Always fun to play along.
Now 2 more sea days until Melbourne.
Sea Day – Feb 14
Happy Valentine’s Day!
We had lunch in the dining room with a full table. We met
Holly who was on my Wellington tour that didn’t happen when the port was
canceled. Another couple from Northern California and a grandmother and granddaughter
from Wisconsin whom we have met at another lunch. It seems since the last time
we talked to the young lady she has now chosen a university. Greg told her it’s
the same one both of his parents went to in Wisconsin.
Kind of thought they might do something special for V-Day in
the dining room or buffet for lunch and dinner, but not really. They had
heart shaped cookies at the buffet but were all out when we went back. At
dinner Rondi told us that they ate at 12:30 and they were all gone then.
Seriously???
No fancy cakes and such as in the past. No huge buffets or fancy dinner. There was a display
before going into the dining room. They also in the dining room offered steak and lobster for an additional $29.
The show tonight was an encore show by Will Martin. All new show and again, all I can say is WOW! Very talented young man with a melodic voice and a great pianist. He also is a great story between songs.
The game show was the Marriage Match Game. Always funny, but the couples tonight really were hilarious.
Tomorrow is our last sea day before Melbourne.
Sea Day – Feb 15
Lunch in the dining room and we got a table for 2 so we could finish sooner so we could make the game show.
After lunch we went to the Deal or No deal Game Show. Not as many showed up to play this one. I guess they do one of these per segment. Both contestants took a deal at some point, and neither would have won more than their Deal, so good choices for them. We each won a scratch off on our tickets.
It was a formal night, so we ate in the dining room. Service was so slow tonight it was too late for the early show. We got there at 5:00 and it was way after 7:00 when we left. We asked Roy & Rondi if they wanted to move tables starting the next segment in Sydney. They agreed and we went up front and requested a table change. He is the worst waiter we have ever had on a cruise. Every table we sit at for lunch has had incredibly good service and the servers are very personable. Our guy is clumsy and really doesn't speak much. If you ask a question, he gets defensive and basically tells you that you are wrong. I was passing the salt and pepper which was a long reach, and he was ready to put my plate down and he proceeds to put it down telling me to move my arm. Menus come at you at all angles and always right in your face. I had a lobster, and it came with bearnaise sauce, and I asked if I could have melted butter and he pointed to the thick sauce and says there's butter in there. (his assistant brought me some and he is really good at his job) If you order something he always acts like he doesn't know which item you mean. Rondi orders the soup, and he says which one? Only one on the menu. If there is a tart for dessert, he'll say the apple? (is there more than one? NO)
Since we missed the early show, we went to watch part of the "May I Have Your Verdict Please?" game show. Had to leave part way through it to make the show, but it was funny. Groups of 12 people were presented with a case and had to choose who the judge favored. Cole played the mean angry judge, and it was funny watching Cole be mean. Lots of funny answers from the groups. One lady says "we are not a hung jury, but some on the jury might be well-hung."
We then went to the evening show which was a production show called “I Got Music”. For me, the voices just didn't suit the songs. Dancers were great.
While we were sitting in the show someone named Al Air-dropped a couple of photos of the sunset to my iPad. Not sure who they were meant for, but thanks AL.
