Pickering Creek Audubon Center –
Easton, MD – July 1
We started just before lunch today
and drove to an area to check out the Chesapeake Bay area (the Gateway area) before going to lunch
at The BBQ Joint. We split a sampler platter for 2 and everything was good. I
prefer less vinegary BBQ sauce, but we are in the part of the country where vinegar-based
sauces are what they prefer. It was pretty good BBQ none-the-less.

We then drove the short distance to
the Audubon center for hiking and birding. We heard and saw quite a few birds
today. They have about 4 miles of trails and we did just about all of it. One
part was over a rocky road and we turned around as there wasn’t much to see.
What we saw the most of was frogs! Everywhere you stepped lots of frogs hopped
out of the way. I hope we didn’t step on any.
