Cartagena, Colombia - Jan 8

January 8 - Cartagena, Colombia

It’s our 5th time here so we didn’t set up a tour and decided to hang close by the port. We have pretty much seen everything multiple times, so we were just going to chill.

We enjoy the small bird park here, but this time a couple of the enclosures were not accessible, so less to see. We did enjoy a peacock trying to impress an uninterested female and see a Red Howler Monkey troupe. We hadn’t seen Red Howlers since seeing them in the wild in the Amazon.

Keel-billed Toucan

Scaled Pigeon
Blue-billed Curassow

Black & White Stilt
This little guy followed me around and pecked me constantly on the back of my calf, I seriously thought about kicking it into next week.

Pileated Woodpecker
Peckary - I hope the tortoise behind it gets turned back right side up

Grey-headed Chachalaca

Blue & Gold Macaw

Scarlet Macaw

I broke a necklace and hoped to find a replacement leather at the shops there, but no luck. We ran into Tom & Cathy at the Bird Park, and we chatted briefly about how things were going on the cruise. We hope service improves after LA.

We didn’t stay long at the small area at the port and went back to the ship for lunch.

The show tonight was vocalist Deli Rowe. She was awful. Quite a few people walked out. She sang “diva” type songs and rushed the songs and frankly just didn’t sing all that well.

We listened to the Irish Duo Aileen & Sticks. After that we went to the Explore’s Lounge and listened to Jaame’s Band do Country & Western. They did a great job. There weren’t any games tonight, so we stayed a listened to Jamme’s Band do a set of their regular music.

Tomorrow is the Panama Canal transit. Many on board are here for that specific purpose since when the cruise director asked who was going through for the first time and almost the entire room raised their hands.
