Fort Lauderdale - Sail Away - Jan 5

Fort Lauderdale – Embarkation & Sail Away - January 5

We started the day with a low tire warning on the rental car. Luckily, we found a gas station with an actual working air machine less than a block off the expressway. Tom & Cathy arrived just ahead of us at the port. They waited with me while Greg returned the rental car. Greg said the rental place was actually slow, so it didn’t take long, and we were inside and checked in quickly. Princess has gone to a Medallion system. (no key cards anymore) We were pre-checked in on the Medallion App, so we were on the ship in no time.

Much ado before the cruise over which Covid testing methods could be used, but they accepted a self-test with your name and the date written on a piece of paper. We did have monitored tests and uploaded those results.

They were still cleaning the room, so we headed up to the buffet for lunch. Greg ran into Roy &
Rondi after we were seated so we moved to a larger table so we could sit together. They had quite the travel ordeal from British Columbia. Hours of delays and at one point didn’t think they would get here. They arrived about 2:00 AM, but they made it.

After lunch we came back and unpacked some more. My 2 cases came, but Greg’s didn’t. His came just in time to get changed for dinner. We were still missing a small box, but that came after dinner.

Had dinner with Roy & Rondi and we went to see the comedian, Carl Strong. He was the opening act for Gladys Knight & the Pips and then actually filled in as one of the pips. We thought he was funny.

After the show it was back to the room to finish organizing.

Here are a few sail away photos:
