Sea Day - January 21

Sea Day - January 21

After breakfast we did our Covid self-tests. We both were negative! Our cabin steward Janice witnessed the negative test and told us to write our names and date and time next to the strip on a piece of paper and take a photo of it in case anyone wanted to see it later.

We went to lunch again at Alfredo’s Pizzeria in Sabatini’s. It wasn’t as good as the first time. (a bit under-cooked), but still tasty. Sat with another couple on their first world cruise.

We spent part of the afternoon watching the movie Murder on the Nile which was pretty good. Tonight, at dinner we had 2 other couples at the table along with Andy and Sherri. (still not sure if I have spelled her name right) We hope Roy & Rondi can return after Hawaii.

We went to listen to Grace’s Secret the band that replaced Jaame’s Band and they are a real snooze. I had just said I hope they get off in Sydney, but she soon announced proudly that they were on for the next 111 days. UGH. We’ll skip them. (just not our taste, Jaame’s band was just so much more upbeat ad fun and played a wide variety of music)

We watched part of the “Yes No” game before going to the evening show which was another comedy magic act. It’s the first time I fell asleep during a show and the lights were up. Unlike on the Pacific Princess, they don’t have large screens so the whole audience can see the “close up” magic. So, unless you are in the first row or so, it really isn’t fun to watch. I don’t know where the comedy came in as he wasn’t funny.

The good news Cole our cruise director had for us was that we again get to set the clocks back and hour again tonight before Hawaii. The best news was that since the Covid results were so good we are back to being mask-free again! Then he said tomorrow is a formal night and our entertainment is the Production show Encoure! It’s the one we just saw, so performing it twice in a row. I assume it’s because the opera singer will disembark and go to another ship, and they wanted her to perform it for the people that got on in LA.

For my daily whining: Cole keeps referring to this as a 97-day world cruise? Many of us have or are doing the full 111 days. The Patter still says day 3 of our cruise. 17 days for many of us.

Our cabin steward Janice from the Philippines is very nice and accommodating. We really don’t like the huge heavy duvets on the bed, and she said after the first segment she would get us a thin blanket instead. She did get us one and it was on the bed last night. Yay! For the first time a cabin steward wouldn’t remove the large wooden hangers for us. We bring thinner ones so more clothes fit into the closet and she said we had to keep them. They have always gladly taken them away…..

Tomorrow is another relaxing day at sea.
