Sea Day - Jan 12
Typical sea day for us, breakfast with some time spent in
the sun for me and shade for Greg. Showered and went to lunch in the dining
room. Chilled until Bingo and we have decided that Fortuna Luck is too annoying,
and we will skip bingo until the final Snowball Jackpot. We enjoy the game of
bingo, but her games are short and often even the 4 number games often go in 4
numbers. Way too much hoopla and not playing interesting patterns that take
longer and build more anticipation. (and our almost daily ice cream break before
bingo)
Dinner again had a long line for those with reservations.
Only one person taking info and one taking people to seats. We asked if we
could be assigned a larger table for the 4 of us to share. They said we could
probably get that on the next segment starting in LA. People that know their
table number can just walk right in.
It was another formal night and there was a Captain’s Circle
party that we actually did make on time. Our waiter was a bit better tonight.
My biggest “complaint” so far on the cruise has been the inability to get a
cold drink. They came with little or no ice and getting a second one in the course
of a meal has been impossible. One night at one of the game shows, I ordered a
Dirty Banana which should be frozen. I saw it sit at the bar for a long time
before a server picked it up and then he walked around the room for quite a
long time staring at his device trying to locate us. I tried to wave to him,
but he never really looked up. Finally, he found us and it of course was
melted. Diet cokes are small, and no ice and you have to beg for a straw.
As long as I’m whining, the buffet at lunch or dinner have
had very little variety in desserts and so far not much if anything chocolate.
The Captain’s party was nice, and they really hustled the
drinks out. No Hors d’oeuvres were served which was fine by us, but one guy was
having a fit. He kept saying like many of us eat at this time and since was
delayed they should have had them. At one point he says to the poor server “do
you know what Hors d’oeuvres are?” She said they weren’t serving them as you
could order some in the stateroom. They used to circle with them, but it is
another one of the things they have cut.
I’ll quit whining now.
Tomorrow, we have another relaxing sea day.
