January 20 – Sea Day
Starting yesterday it was announced that we would have to
wear masks for the next 3 days. UGH. We will be tested on the 21st
to see if we need to continue to wear them. Our first 14 days were mask free.
Tomorrow is our testing day, and we received the most
complicated testing procedure I have ever seen. They want you to swab the cheek
by the gum without touching your teeth on both sides and then swab your throat
and then with the same swab they want you to swab your nostrils as you normally
would. Good grief! It does say if you are unable to do that, then just swabbing
your nostrils are enough. We do that between 8:00 - 11:00 tomorrow. Fingers
crossed that we can stop wearing the masks.
We played bingo and Greg won $50. We saw Allison (met on
previous world cruise) and she was so sweet to bring me some home-made jam and
a scarf. She’s on an excursion or two with us later on the cruise. We have kept
in touch ever since. We had lunch in the dining room and sat with interesting
people. All of us doing the full world. Part of the fun of cruising is to talk to so many different people.
We received our world cruise gifts. (again, we should have
received them in Florida, but they told us they were waiting until LA) They included a backpack that has a roll down top, a beach bag, reusable metal water
bottles that have world cruise 2023 on them and nicer lanyards to hold the medallions but they just say medallion class, not world cruise as
in the past. We already packed the bottles away, but they are the typical metal water bottles with the World Cruice 2023 printed on them. (nice)
We spent most of the day in the stateroom (no masks needed there). Got ready for dinner and made it to the early show. Lou Gazarra was the vocalist, and he was very entertaining. He brought out the soprano (opera) singer from the production shows and did a duet with her. He was on American Idol and made it to the finals in LA.
We went to the game show and didn’t play but watched. It was
the same one we saw in the first segment. (a few different questions, but most
were the same) There doesn’t seem to be music as often now that Jaame’s band
left. We are yet to see Grace’s Secret who took their place. There was karaoke
last night and only 3 different people singing. So, we called it a night.
Tonight, we set the clocks back 1 hour.
Tomorrow, another relaxing day at sea.
